I have this jewelry frame that I have been able to complete.  It only took me 6 months.  Yikes!




Now its up for sale locally here in Mesa, AZ.

The frame measures 12 1/2" X 15"  and the metal grill area used to hang hook earrings measure
9 1/2" X 11 1/2".  A good size for hanging multiple earring sets.  Frame is distressed and goes well with the black knobs that can be used to hang fashionable bracelets or necklaces.  Be able to look at a good stock of your accessories at once.





I have been making these frame jewelry holders for years and have even posted a tutorial here a few years ago.

Lavender Bath Salts

I'm back briefly checking in to see how things are going on around here.  I'm sad to say that nothing much has been done.  I have entered my Junior year at ASU this semester and the school work load is unreal to say the least.  But I'm pushing thru.  Almost half way thru this first semester at ASU and I found a little breathing room.  Enough time to get in a little creativity to share with you.

I've been learning about essential oils and how to incorporate them into my family and I daily lives.  So because of my new found admiration for these oils I searched pinterest to find some inspiration that I can use my oils for.  Today I am sharing the first concoction I experimented with.

I purchased some dead sea salts to make with doterra's lavender EO which you can purchase here.  I used 2 pounds of salt and mixed about 40-50 drops of the lavender.  After mixing the oil and salts so they were well blended in a mixing bowl  I wanted to add some color.  I ended up using food coloring for this process.  A few drops of this stuff goes a long way.  I used around 6 drops to a 3rd of the salts as I divided into 3 different colors.  Of course the darker you want the color the more drops.  Always best to go with less drops and gradually add 2 drops at a time until you are satisfied with the color.  It's easy to add, not so easy to take away coloring.  I let the salts sit over night in a sealed container so that the color could distribute evenly.  I love how they turned out.  The scent was strong at first once I opened the container, but settles soon after.  I have yet to soak in a bath with them, I will need to come back and update my post once I do that. 

 

 

 

I love the colors the salts turned out to be.  Reminds me of summer, although it is coming to an end.  I'll be able to remember summer with these salts all winter.

Shabby Red End Table

Last week I was able to re paint this sturdy cabinet/end table.

I have had it for a while and always knew how I wanted to redo this one.  I knew I wanted it red and a little shabby.

So, definately red, and definately shabby.    Here's a few more pics.

I like it!  I listed it on craigslist and it sold within a couple of days.

Easter Egg Garland

Getting a late start at sharing Easter projects I've done around the home.  I'll start by sharing this festive Easter egg garland.

 

 

Just a few simple supplies.  1. 3 pkg 24 count plastic eggs from $tree.  2. Twine the length that you want your garland.  3.  Big sewing needle.

That's it!

 

 

I needled the twine and then I sewed thru the exisiting holes in the plastic eggs until I reached the desired length.

 

 

See that Easter egg board right there?  Yup the torquoisy one!  Made that at a craft night held locally here in Arizona.  You can find out more info here if your local.

Tv Tray Freebie

Happy Aloha Friday!

 

 

In honor of Aloha Friday I am doing an aloha inspired project.

 

I scored a tv tray off of CL for FREE!  Love when I can score great finds.

 

Well, it's just your basic light color wood foldable TV tray, usually in a set of 4.  I didn't get before pics, sorry.  But it hasn't changed much.  I got it for the Mr so he can watch tv with his snack and drink near by. 

 

I took some painters tape and free handed a zig zag pattern that I cut with an exacto.  Adhered it where I wanted it, added some stripes with the tape.

 

 

I then painted black inside the taped area and....wallllah!

 

Don't you just love it?

Pens, Markers, & Pencils Organized!

Hope you had a great St. Paddy's Day!  If you follow me on IG {instagram} then you have seen my dilemma with organizing my daughters many writing utensils in a way that she will keep it organized.  Oh, a did I mention, it had to be on the CHEAP!

 

I ended up with this.  She likes it and so far it has been working.  Which means I like it!

 

 

It seems like at the end of every school year this pile gets bigger.  If you know me, you know I like to recycle.  Here's what you need:

 

1.  Empty nose tissue box

2.  15 Toilet paper rolls or 8 paper towel rolls

3.  Paper {I used wrapping paper from $1 bin at T}

4.  Adhesive {I used modge podge}

 

 

Pretty easy to put together.

 

Looks pretty easy, right?  My 9 year old even helped.  I covered one side of the toilet paper rolls with paper as well.

 

 

Love that she is keeping everything in this diddy then scatter everywhere through her room.

Shamrock Sign

So remember yesterday I shared how I lacked St. Patrick's day home decor?  Well, here's another easy addition to the decor collection.

 

 

I purchased the cut out felt shamrock from the dollar store last year. I also had this board from another project and painted it a base white. 

 

 

 

Applied some glue to adhere the shamrock to the board. That's it!  Too easy, right?

 

 

 

 

 

 

St Patrick's Day Banner

It seems that I don't have as much decorations for St Paddy's day. It gave me a good excuse to use up these pages that have been hanging on to the bindings of one of my daughters reads.

 

So easy and I had everything on hand so I was able to put it all together in less than a half hour. WooooHoooo! Don't you just love easy? And Cheap?

 

Just a few items are needed.

1.  Book Pages!  duh?  2.  Glue Gun & Sticks  3.  Scissors

4.  Twine  5.  Shamrocks

I picked my shamrocks up last year for the dollar store and never knew what to do with them.  Mine were foam, but you could easily do it out of paper.

 

See that shamrock board up top?  Another addition I added.  Stay tuned for that one tomorrow.  So,

1. cut triangle out of book pages  2.  Cut twine to length desired

3.  Adhere shamrocks to book pages  4.  Space out shamrock penants along twine as desired and adhere to twine.  Taadaaah!

 



Re"vase"Ed!

Made this beauty from a empty wine bottle, old sweater, jute, and some hot glue. 

 

 

 

I cut the sleeve off a sweater that unraveled a while ago and I had been saving just for this here project.  Gathered and glued one end of the sleeve under the bottle.  Next I tightly secured the jute around the base of the neck of the bottle.  I made sure to include the other end of the sleeve as I wrapped the jute around the next of the bottle.  Secured the end of the jute with more hot glue.  I added this beleive it or not, auto air freshener that use to hang from my rear view mirror.  I think it adds the perfect touch.

Valentine Mix

Found this recipe at Betty Crocker  OMG!  It was sooo easy and tastes sooo good!

 

Took all of 15 minutes and cooling time to put together.

 

This is what I used because I had it on hand.

    

9 cups Rice Chex® cereal (gluten free)

1 cup white vanilla baking chips

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup butter or margarine

3/4 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup of m&m's

pink sugar crystals

 

 

Followed the directions from here.  Once the mix cooled I bottled and detailed.  Thanks to The Idea Room for the printable.

Bursting Felt Heart

Here's a cute project that I got to work on with my 9 year old daughter.  It was nice being able to see her take an interest in crafts.  Duplicated from here.  I'm telling you those girls are awesome.

 

1.  I cut  hearts out of red and pink felt pieces.  You can get these in single sheets at most craft stores for less than $.40 each.  I got 5 to 6 hearts out of each sheet.

 

2.  I put 1 pink and 1 red hearts together and punched holes around the edge of the heart.  Be carfeul not to get to close too the edge.  This helped my daughter stitch the twine around the edge of the heart.  She made sure to leave a big enough hole to pour the m&m's inside.





3.  Pour m&m's in the heart.  Finish stitiching the heart closed.  She just tied it off with a bow.

 

 

 

She made these for her cousins and we got them mailed off.  She is so excited.  She is making sure that they knew she made it and that it is from her.  

 



Heart Felt Trees

If you follow Maka'z Home on Facebook then you have seen these cute trees that I duplicated from those crafty girls over at Lollyjane.  See their trees that I duplicated here.

I had a few scrap pieces left over from this valentine project idea I got from those creative ladies over at lollyjane.  Something my daughter and I got to work on together.

   See the shiny hearts I used to top the tree, those were thanks to +Lolly Jane . Thanks chika!

So took the leftover scraps and cut hearts out of red felt and pink felt.  I made the hearts all different sizes.  Looking back now, probably look a little better more uniformed.  Ups to you.  Had 2 styrofoam cones from the dollar store as well as the candle stick bases from the dollar store.  Used sewing needles to poke the upsode down hearts into the styrofoam.  It helps to leave the packaging on the cone incase you need to hot glue some hearts into place.

Taa daaaahhh!  Took less than an hour to put together once the hearts where all cut out.  Less than $3 dollars to make each tree.  S C O R E !!
