There has been an outpouring of support for the family of Lt. Shuhandler and the Gilbert Police Department. The Town has compiled a list of fundraisers on our Town Web site. Below is a list of coming fundraising events. Please forward any other fundraisering events to publicinformation@gilbertaz.gov and they can be posted on the Town Web site. February 1 - 6 - Power Postal at Johnson Ranch is sponsoring a fundraiser in honor of Lt. Eric Shuhandler. During the week of February 1 through February 6, 2010, 10% of all products (excluding shipping/mail) sold will be donated to the Town of Gilbert Police Benevolent Funds.
Where: The store is located on the Northwest corner of Hunt Highway and Bella Vista in the Bella Vista Shopping Center that sits next to the Circle K Gas Station in the Johnson Ranch neighborhood of San Tan Valley.
Friday, February 5 - Buffalo Wild Wings has announced it will donate 25 percent of its sales all day Friday at both its Gilbert locations, the southwest corner of Gilbert and Warner roads and the southeast corner of McQueen and Elliott roads.
February 5 - 6 - Community Rummage sale Friday Feb.5, dawn to dusk and Saturday Feb. 6, dawn to 4pm.
All proceeds are going to the family of Lt. Eric Shuhandler. Donations and items to sell will be accepted.
Where: Gilbert, Val Vista Lakes, N. Voyager Drive and N. Columbus Drive.
Saturday, Feburary 6 - The downtown Gilbert charter school, Gilbert Early College, is hosting a fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, February 6th in support of Lt. Eric Shuhandler's two daughters. Refreshments will be provided.
Where: 415 N. Gilbert Road, just south of the Dairy Queen in downtown Gilbert.
Saturday, February 6 - Both Nando's Mexican Cafe's in Mesa & Gilbert will be holding a fundraiser for officer Lt. Eric Shuhandler's family this Saturday, February 6, 2010. 20% of all food sales will be donated to the Shuhandler family.
Where: Nando's is located in Mesa at 6715 E McDowell Rd (SW Corner of Power & McDowell 480-830-8181) and in Gilbert at 3519 E Baseline Rd (Sw Corner of Val Vista & Baseline 480-633-1313).
Tuesday, February 9 - The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Memorial Fund and Danny’s Family Car Wash at San Tan Marketplace will be holding a charity car wash to benefit the family of fallen Gilbert Police Lt. Eric Shuhandler. Lt. Shuhandler was shot and killed in the line of duty on January 28, 2010. He served the Gilbert police force for 16 years and leaves behind two young daughters, ages 10 and 12.
Free basic washes will be given from 7:30 am – 2:00 pm for a donation.
All proceeds will directly benefit the Shuhandler family.
